122 Roseneath St. is a community of 48 apartments and 18 townhouses, delivered in collaboration between Wulff Projects, Icon Co and Assemble. Our mission is to create homes we want to live in ourselves (in fact, seven of the development team have decided to call 122 Roseneath St. home).
This project is founded upon a philosophy of small footprint living. It’s not just about size; it’s a way of life that treads lightly on the planet and fosters community – helping our city grow more sustainably. With a commitment to great design, we believe a vertical life can be happily lived by all sorts of people – families, friends, pets, bike-lovers and green thumbs alike.
In July 2016 we hosted a early registration sales day, which was a great success. 57 of the 66 apartments and townhouses were purchased on this day, and since all remaining properties have now been sold. We were pleased to see that participation in our design presentations and feedback process meant so many people felt comfortable committing to the project. 85% of buyers were able to secure one of their top four preferences – testament to the diverse (yet like-minded) community of people who have been attracted to the project.
122 Roseneath St. is in a leafy pocket of Clifton Hill, edged in parklands and secluded (but not far) from its busier northern counterparts. It’s the sort of place you’ll find kids playing cricket in the street and neighbours out having a cuppa on their verandahs. A former bluestone quarry made way for neat rows of Victorian terraces and tree-lined public gardens, protected today by a suburb-wide heritage overlay. With 122 Roseneath St. being one of the last significant landholdings in the suburb, the Clifton Hill you’ll see today is the Clifton Hill you’ll see indefinitely.
122 Roseneath St. is a striking piece of architecture that is respectful and responsive to its context. The veil-like metal balustrade is a nod to the filigree of fence posts and ornate metal work in the surrounding area, and we’ve retained the bones of the Brutalist building that exists on-site – referencing its raw materiality throughout the design. A hallmark of the project is a pair of elevated linear parks that intercept the buildings and provide a series of shady nooks to relax in. The interiors have been thoughtfully considered – they’re subtle, robust and designed to last the distance, using high quality materials including cork, timber and marble, complemented by fine tiling.
122 Roseneath St. offers one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments and two- and three-bedroom townhouses, intending to attract a diverse community of residents at every stage in life. We’ve designed the project around flexible communal spaces including a multi-purpose communal room, a north-facing terrace with barbecue area and herb gardens, a workshop for messy jobs and a communal laundry.
